Punched Silver-Plated Beaker Set
A set of hand-formed beakers developed through process, repetition, and surface.
Each vessel begins as spun copper before being raised, planished, and worked through punching, building a textured surface through repeated, controlled strikes. The pattern emerges gradually, shaped by rhythm and movement rather than applied decoration.
The surface draws from a language of worked material, echoing the textures of carved stone, archaeological fragments, and early metalwork found across North East Scotland. These references are not literal, but embedded within the process, translated through mark, depth, and reflection.
Finished in silver plate, the vessels carry a bright, responsive surface that interacts dynamically with light, catching on the punched forms and revealing subtle variation across each piece.
Beakers have long existed as some of the most direct forms in silver, held in the hand, used without handle or hierarchy. This set continues that lineage, designed for drinking, sharing, and repeated use.
Each vessel is individually made, resulting in slight variations in surface and form. Together, the set forms a unified group, connected through process, but distinct in detail.
