Chased Sterling Silver Tea Strainer
A finely made tool designed for the preparation and serving of tea, shaped through process, precision, and use.
This sterling silver tea strainer is hand-formed and worked through chasing, building a textured surface through controlled strikes. The result is a subtle, irregular finish that catches light unevenly, revealing the marks of making.
The pierced bowl is designed to filter loose leaves as tea is poured; a quiet, precise action that sits at the centre of the tea ritual. Held above a cup, the object performs its role momentarily, before being set aside again.
Historically associated with care, measure, and hospitality, the tea strainer reflects a slower, more deliberate approach to preparation. This piece continues that lineage, combining traditional silversmithing techniques with a contemporary surface language.
The form balances delicacy and weight, with a handle shaped for stability and control. Each piece carries slight variations in surface and proportion, reflecting its handmade nature.
